Nevada’s Insurance Verification Program (IVP) was established by the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles to insure that all registered vehicles in the state of Nevada maintained a minimum of auto liability insurance.
With the cooperation of Nevada auto insurance companies, the Nevada DMV can verify whether or not a registered vehicle is currently insured. If auto liability insurance cannot be verified, vehicle registration will be suspended.

Nevada’s Minimum Auto Liability Insurance Requirements
Proof of these minimum limits of auto liability insurance coverage, as evidenced by a Nevada Evidence of Insurance card, must be maintained in the vehicle at all times. Failure to maintain minimum auto liability insurance, as reported by insurance companies authorized to conduct business in the state of Nevada, can result in the suspension of vehicle registration. If registration is suspended, a reinstatement fee of $ 250 may be required. This fee can be reduced if the driver has sufficient proof that the vehicle was not operated during the time auto insurance was not in effect. Too bad that all states don’t pattern their auto insurance laws after the state of Nevada. If you are responsible enough to drive, then you should be responsible enough to carry auto insurance.
